I have a question for Christians. This never made sense to me..?

No, not according to the bible (the 6,000 year thing). Certain people have counted back genealogies in the bible and that is how they arrived at the 6,000 year decision. We have no idea how old the earth is. Science keeps changing their minds about it, as well.
