Just a heads-up on who pays for Big Pharma's R&D?
The U.S. taxpayers pay for the pharmaceutical companies research and development via taxpayer funded subsidies to the drug manufacturers. Frustrating, devious and crooked as this sad fact is, however, that is how the "governing" system has been designed. Whomever has the most money can, with breathtaking ease, place their representatives or agents in positions of great political power, such as the Senate, the House of Representives, indeed, simply Congress: The Legislative Branch, and as an aside, very seldom acknowledged or even hinted at, the Executive Branch. Yes, indeed my fellow citizens, simply look at the last Executive administration; basically the oil and energy (redundant?) companies were remarkedly well represented: G. W. Bush=CEO oil company, D. Cheney=CEO oil services company, Condi Rice=Sits on Board of Directors of oil company, D. Rumsfeld=CEO of chemical/food/petroleum based company...etc. the list goes on and on and on. The U.S. government is not staffed with civil servants, but rather with powerful and awesomely wealthy Big Business leaders. What do you think these oligarchs main motivations and desires are? Help the citizenry or increase personal profits? Simple question, but you won't like the answer......
