How to I Make the perfect Roast beef in a Crock Pot?!?

I am cooking a roast tomorrow for my family, and I don't know how to make it..well I have done it before it just never turns out right. I am putting in potatoes, carrots and a onion and plan on using beef broth and some red wine...how much do i use..I am serving 5. Please help me !!! ALSO what do I serve with it..I have some mixed greens in the fridge maybe with some straweberries and black berries with a rasperberry vinegrate? I have some aspargus to that i can make with parmesan cheese? I also make a fabulous roasted tomato soup? is this too much...
