How much do you spend on Christmas gifts?

We're grandparents. In past years we did the shopping and sending out of gifts, and putting others under the tree. Now, though, it has evolved into the habit of sending out checks or gift cards. We don't know any more what people want. As children get older, they get picky. They get what they want where they want. A very few get material gifts. As for cost, a couple of our checks (sometimes it's gift cards) are 100.00, some are less. We don't have many any more to send to and to give to, so it's not really complicated..
